rainy days & minimalist men’s Ts

Wearing : Eder Aurre Graphic T & Rains Long Jacket (similar in black)

The second day into our trip to Montreal we woke up & it was absolutely downpouring. The streets looked gorgeous, but there was no hope for shooting until later in the afternoon, and even then it wasn’t exactly enjoyable (it was that kind of slanted wind/rain combo that makes an umbrella basically useless).

Fortunately, Porter lucked out because the store within The Hotel William Gray, Off The Hook, had just started carrying Rains, which neither of us had ever heard of before, but turned out to be exactly the kind of company we both love: minimalist aesthetic, neutral tones, and good quality materials. Their coats are lined, making them more of a fall-into-winter jacket than exclusively for rainy days, and the material feels somewhere between leather & neoprene. I love how, even though it’s rainwear, they’ve managed to make a jacket that isn’t at all boxy. I think a lot of cold weather companies struggle in that department, but the Rains jackets are solidly built & well insulated while still being slimming. Anyway, as soon as we came across the brand I knew I wanted to share it here because 1. They’re very good looking jackets & 2. I don’t think the company is extremely well known just yet.

Also, for whatever reason all of the guys I know will do anything to avoid carrying an umbrella. Having lived in Dublin, I don’t get that at all, but if you’re going to refuse an umbrella, these jackets are definitely a solid alternative. Also, the jackets are all unisex, and as long as the sizing is right they look just as great on girls (just order down one extra size from what you would usually wear).

Hope you enjoy the pics!
