Valentine’s Day gift guides

With Valentine’s day coming up, we thought it would be a good time to revamp the shop his / shop hers tabs of the blog with a combination of a few of our favorite things & some items we’ve been eyeing. We know most prepared people have probably already known what they’re getting their significant other for Valentine’s Day for at least a few days by now, but we’re not those people. I swear Porter chooses some of my gifts twelve hours before the gift-giving day, and while this used to bother me a little, unfortunately, I think his last-minute habits have instead rubbed off on me, and now I find myself procrastinating things I used to plan way in advance. For example, the last couple times I’ve needed a haircut I’ve just walked in the moment I’ve felt like getting one to see if a spot happens to have opened up right then & there. I used to be a textbook planner, so I’m still trying to decide if Porter’s attempts to convince me this is an improvement are legitimate or self-serving.

I wouldn’t say Port & I are huge Valentine’s Day people, mostly because Porter constantly vocalizes his belief that it’s a Hallmark holiday, and neither of us are generally very “sappy”. This year Valentine’s day will probably consist of a last minute decision of where to go out to dinner, which will probably be one of maybe three of our favorite local restaurants, and hopefully a flower arrangement that isn’t roses (I don’t love roses, I’m not really sure why I just am not that crazy about them, anyone with me on this?)

If I’m being totally honest, we would probably put these gift guides together even if no one ever looked at them because there’s something fun about amassing a visual of all the little things you’ve come across that fit your taste, and therefore, in some kind of a way, represent you. (Maybe I should pick up Pinterest, after all). I genuinely love finding small boutique brands or items and sharing them with those of similar taste, so I hope if you’re looking for something, you find what you’re looking for, and if you’re not, you find them fun to scroll through anyway.

The pics from above are from this weekend on our way to go grocery shopping. It was so so cold that we ended up taking a cab back, and didn’t leave the house again until Monday (it was Saturday). This day is looking like it might turn out similarly. Boston’s been hit by a massive snow storm, and we’re just a couple of hours into it. Our windows are a sheet of white, and the plows have already driven by five times since I started writing this post.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics & the gift guides!

Xx

  1. Appreciating the time and energy you put into your website and in depth information you present. It’s great to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same old rehashed material. Wonderful read! I’ve saved your site and I’m adding your RSS feeds to my Google account.
