city sundays

It’s reached that stage of summer when the afternoons can get oppressive and the heat makes the hours move in slow motion. Last Sunday was an exception. It was strangely cool and even felt a tiny bit like fall. I managed to convince Porter that playing chess in Phillips Park wasn’t incredibly lame (the park tables have chess boards built into them, after all) and it turned out to be a pretty great afternoon pastime. I’ll have to admit, even though it’s only the beginning of July, I’m already very much looking forward to brisk weather, boots, and jackets. I may love the summer, but I stand by my belief that there’s nothing better than dressing for fall.
